Some 41 apparel manufacturers have got allotment of industrial plots at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN) to establish garment factories in the park.
The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) signed land lease agreements with the apparel makers who are members of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) on 15 March.
Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus attended the agreement signing ceremony as chief guest.
NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md. Rahmatul Muneem, Secretary of Local Government Division Helal Uddin Ahmed, Secretary of the Ministry Md Mustafizur Rahman PAA and BGMEA President Dr. Rubana Huq attended the program as special guests.
BEZA Chairman Paban Chowdhury presided over the event.
In her address, BGMEA President Dr. Rubana Huq expressed profound gratitude towards the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh for extending government’s support to the RMG industry, especially for setting up garment village at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar.
Shed thanked BEZA for developing and leasing land to the apparel manufacturers, and urged them to withdraw VAT on the land lease.

About Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN)
Mrisarai, Sitakundu and Sonagazi are the adjoining upazilas of Chittagong and Feni. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar are being developed on a contiguous land of 30000 acres of these three Upazila, which is located on the mouth of Feni river, covering 25 KMs of coast lines of Sandeep channel of the Bay of Bengal. The site is free from any habitant and it’s a reclaimed land to be protected by a super dyke. Chittagong is a port city which covers 95% s export and import through largest Chittagong Sea Port.
BSMSN is one of the most suitable sites of Bangladesh for setting up industrial establishments. It is along the strategic location of Dhaka-Chittagong industrial corridor. In Mirsarai, as well as in Chittagong division, business costs and cost of living are significantly lower than those of the other competing cities of the world. Chittagong, with all its potentialities, is an attractive destination for setting up huge number of industries, commercial establishments and financial institutions. With a high quality business friendly environment, it has positive impacts and contributions in shaping Chittagong into a leading regional business hub.At present, the BSMSN has been conceptualized to be built on a land of 30000 acres. BSMSN, the first planned city of the country, will pave the way for establishing a truly world-class business and industrial center.
