From the Spanish Association of Products for Children (ASEPRI) we have received the following statement, signed by Mª Eugenia García , Vice President of Childcare of the Association , which we reproduce below:
“In view of the uncertainty situation due to the Covid-19 outbreaks and in anticipation that possible restrictions will return soon, ASEPRI and the Childhood Products sector, we request support so that childcare products are considered“ essential ”products and to continue operating in physical stores before the possibility of a new confinement.
The Spanish Childcare sector represented by ASEPRI (Spanish Association of Products for Children) , claims that Childcare items be considered “essential” as they are intended to guarantee the safety of babies, their physical and emotional well-being, their correct mobility , food, daily hygiene, rest and psychomotor development.
Consequently, the physical establishments that market them and provide the essential expert advice for the purchase of said items must be declared essential establishments if a new confinement is established.
The Childcare items that we request that they be immediately considered essential given their basic need for babies from the moment of their birth, are the following:
– Cribs and minicots, crib mattresses, sheets and bedspreads essential for the baby’s rest.
– Car seats and child restraint systems required by law and essential for essential travel with the newborn.
– Baby strollers to be able to move in situations that require it.
– Breastfeeding articles, bottles and utensils to help with meals to guarantee correct feeding of babies.
– High chairs to guarantee a safe and approved space for feeding the baby at home.
-Approved children’s bathtubs and articles necessary for children’s hygiene
-Humidifiers, nasal aspirators, physiological serums and all items for the respiratory health of the baby at home.
– Baby clothes up to 36 months and textiles necessary for the care of the newborn.
These essential products for babies require specialized advice for their purchase that can only be offered by the physical point of sale which, in many cases, cannot be done online and which determines the most appropriate item based on the needs and life stage of the baby. boy. Thus:
It is necessary that the Health Authorities, in view of the possibility of a new confinement, consider a list of products for children as essential and necessary to guarantee the safety and well-being of the baby and allow its manufacture and distribution in physical establishments and not only online, since that 93% of the sales of childcare articles are made through specialized physical stores .
Childcare items such as the baby stroller, car seats, cribs, etc. they are ordered well in advance in the specialized physical store and it is necessary to allow them to be delivered to customers in a new confinement scenario ”.
