PolyU Honors Four Visionaries with University Fellowships
Ceremony celebrates industry pioneers who have shaped the University’s journey toward excellence

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) recognized four exceptional leaders with its prestigious University Fellowship at a ceremony held on 21 January 2026 at the Jockey Club Auditorium. The honor acknowledges their transformative contributions to both the University and the broader community.
Presiding over the ceremony, Dr. Lam Tai-fai, Chairman of the PolyU Council, presented the fellowships to Ms. Shirley Chan Suk-ling, BBS, JP, Prof. Richard Leung Tim-chiu, Mr. Jason Wu Shang-hong, and Mr. Yeung Fan, BBS. They were welcomed by Prof. Jin-Guang Teng, PolyU President, alongside members of the University’s senior leadership.
A Legacy of Partnership
In his address, Prof. Teng emphasized the profound impact of the University’s relationship with its Fellows.
“Our University Fellows have contributed to PolyU’s development in many meaningful ways,” he remarked. “We are truly grateful for their steadfast support as we pursue academic and research excellence for the benefit of society.”
Prof. Teng expressed optimism about deepening these partnerships. “I look forward to even closer collaboration between PolyU and our Fellows. Together, we can make greater contributions to the advancement of PolyU, to the sustainable development of Hong Kong, and to the continued progress of our Nation.”
Champions of Fashion and Textile Innovation
Among this year’s recipients, two distinguished honorees have cultivated particularly strong bonds with the School of Fashion and Textiles (SFT).
Ms. Shirley Chan Suk-ling stands as a pioneering force in Hong Kong’s fashion landscape. As Vice Chairman of YGM Trading Limited and Director of Yangtzekiang Garment Limited, she has spent decades championing female leadership and driving industry innovation.
Her commitment extends far beyond commerce. Ms. Chan serves as a PolyU Court Member and Chairlady of the School Advisory Committee, while also contributing to the International Advisory Committee of the Research Centre of Textile for Future Fashion. Her philanthropic generosity and mentorship have helped nurture successive generations of talent at the University.
Mr. Yeung Fan (Yeung Chun-fan) embodies the spirit of entrepreneurial philanthropy. As Vice Chairman and General Manager of Glorious Sun Group and Chairman of Jeanswest International (Hong Kong) Limited, he has leveraged his business acumen to advance sustainability in fashion and textiles through strengthened academia-industry partnerships.
His forward-thinking support for AI-related research at SFT aims to enhance industry competitiveness, while his sponsorship of the PolyU International Future Challenge inspires creative problem-solving among young innovators worldwide. A dedicated public servant, Mr. Yeung has earned numerous accolades for his extraordinary charitable work.

The School of Fashion and Textiles expressed profound gratitude for the continued guidance and support of Ms. Chan and Mr. Yeung. Their contributions have significantly strengthened the School’s mission and deepened its industry engagement.
Since establishing the University Fellowship programme in 2000, PolyU has honored 135 distinguished individuals who have helped shape the institution’s trajectory. This year’s recipients join a distinguished legacy of leaders committed to advancing education, innovation, and social progress.
