Govt. Of India Conducting of 4th Nationwide Handloom Census and Issue of Photo Identity Cards

During the celebration of second Handloom Day at Varanasi on August 7, 2016, the Union Textiles Minister had announced conducting of 4th nationwide Handloom census. As a follow-up to this, Office of Development Commissioner (Handlooms), MoT invited request for proposal (RFP) for conducting fourth nationwide Census for Handlooms and issue of Photo Identity cards to Handloom weavers. M/s Karvy Data Management Services Limited (KDMSL), Hyderabad – was selected and assigned the task on 4.01.2017.

Under the project, KDMSL will carry out door to door survey of handloom weavers& allied workers households and non-household weaving units to create data base of handloom weavers and allied workers engaged in handloom sector. The data will be captured as per the questionnaire for household schedule and non-household schedule which are enclosed tor your ready reference. Block wise tested data willbe submitted by KDMSL to office of the DC (Handlooms) for Quality Check and validation by independent agency. After validation of data, KDMSL will print the Photo Identity Cnrds (PIC) and carry out door to door delivery/dispatch. The entire work is likely to be completed within one year from the date of assignment. The data of Handloom sector to be enumerated during the ensuing Census, shall be used in formulation of development and welfare policies for the Handloom Sector.

In a Circular to all the Zonal Directors/Heads of Office,  All Weavers Service Centres has been sent by the Development Commissioner for Handlooms to cooperate with the data collection agency to complete the work within the intended time frame.
