Dr. Roshan Paul

Roshan Paul, 44, graduated in Textile Chemistry from the Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai in 1995 and holds Masters and Doctorate degrees in Chemical Technology from the same institute. He is a Senior Life Member of AATCC, and a Chartered Colourist and a Fellow of the Society of Dyers and Colourists. He has previously worked in the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Barcelona, Clariant in Mumbai and LEITAT Technological Center in Terrassa (Barcelona). He has vast experience in managing European R&D projects and has several publications in the area of the applied research. Since 2013, he has been working as the Head of Research & Innovation of the Function and Care Department of the Hohenstein Institute in Germany.

Hohenstein Institute is among the most important independent research and testing institutions in the textile sector. It comprises of four different institutes: Hohenstein Textile Testing Institute GmbH & Co. KG, Hohenstein Laboratories GmbH & Co. KG, Hohenstein Academy e.V. and Hohenstein Institut für Textilinnovation gGmbH, which is a private non-profit research institute. It is involved in the application oriented research and development of innovative products and processes to open up new market segments for the entire textile industry and its target markets. The Function and Care Department of this institute is working mainly in the areas of textile finishing and coating, spectroscopy, Personal Protective Equipments, 3-D body scanning, physiological evaluation and optimisation of wear comfort, industrial laundry, development and testing of multifunctional textiles, etc.
